Are there any Restrictions for .ng Domain Names?

The following are prohibited on .ng domain names:

  • Domain names that carry geo-location in Nigeria eg. lagos.ng, abuja.ng etc
  • Domain names that are offensive or against international and local laws.
  • Domain names that are intended for spoofing, scamming, or other illegal activities
  • WHOIS Privacy

The following are allowed on .ng domain names:

  • Registering domain names to protect trademark/brand names.
  • Domain parking for later usage or reselling.

The extensions .gov.ng and .edu.ng are allowed only in Nigeria with a written authorization letter to the registry.
